Exhibition 2010 at Kina NZ Design + Art Space, New Plymouth

With this collection I wanted to explore the idea of a relationship between marrow and bones and the emotional and spiritual capacity of humans. The marrow nourishing and the bone protecting. How symbolically we have an outer layer to protect our intricate emotional/spiritual insides, the parts that feed and nurture us and those close to us. Also, how sometimes those protective layers break to reveal what wants expression or healing.

Kowhaiwhai Koru Ring
NZ$390.00

A striking, hand fabricated piece inspired by kowhaiwhai; the traditional Māori scroll work patterns found in rafters and carvings across Aotearoa.
This flared sterling silver band features an intricate hand cut koru design running the full circumference, oxidised to a rich black finish that makes the pattern pop against the silver. Set at the centre is a 3mm faceted aquamarine.

The koru, the spiral at the centre of the design, is one of the most recognised shapes in Māori art, based on the unfurling fern frond and long associated with new growth.
This piece is hand fabricated on the Taranaki coast.

Details:

  • Sterling silver, oxidised finish

  • Aquamarine, 3mm, faceted

  • Band width 9mm, thickness 2mm

  • Size M

Hand cut and hammer textured 925 sterling silver earrings featuring a koru pattern.

Pink Bone Squiggle Earrings
NZ$110.00

Add a playful pop of colour with these one of a kind bone earrings.
Each earring after being dyed in a soft pink hue is then individually hand cut and carved to highlight the natural texture and organic curves of the squiggle design.

Lightweight and easy to wear, these earrings sit beautifully with a drop of approximately 60mm (including the hook), a diameter of 30mm, and a thickness of 5mm; striking enough to make a statement, yet comfortable and light enough for all-day wear.

Every pair is handmade in small batches, meaning slight variations in colour and carving are part of each piece's individual character, meaning no two are exactly alike. Finished with sterling silver ear hooks and secure rubber stoppers.
